When the opportunity arises to visit a ridiculously good looking Clickstay villa in Northern Croatia, my immediate reaction is to grab the girl gang and book flights pronto! Life is short, why not enjoy these amazing moments while you can?? After a quick google to see where the villa was located and what the weather was like at the time, we quickly locked the trip into our calendars. Here’s what we LOVED about this epic villa:

THE LOCATION

Situated just 20 minutes from the Slovenian and Croatian border, this villa is a jewel in the north-west part of Istria. Located in a quaint village called Veli Vrh with views of the Adriatic Sea, Residence Monte caters for everything you need for a relaxing break.

THE WOOD AND LUXE VIBE

As soon as you step into the villa, you are surrounded with copious amounts of wood, stone and ornate stained windows.

Welcomed by exposed wooden beams and adjoined by stone arches, the interior has a warm and inviting vibe. From the bedrooms to the shared living areas, every little detail has been well thought out. It felt like our home away from home the minute we pulled into the driveway.

THE INCREDIBLE SPACE

Whether you are travelling with a group of friends or a large family, the villa offers ample amount of space. There are four double bedrooms, 3 kitchens, 2 living areas, 5 bathrooms, a two storey wellness centre, undercover space for four cars, an outdoor dining area, pool area, sundeck and a huge backyard.

Sounds huge right? It’s even bigger than the pictures capture. At no point did we feel on top of each other, it actually felt empty at times with six people staying at the villa.

THE BREATHTAKING VIEWS

Waking up to expansive views overlooking the vineyards below and the sea in the distance certainly has a positive effect on your mood. Wherever you are hanging out in the property, these jaw dropping views never escape you. Whether it is a morning yoga session, an afternoon malbec by the pool or catching up on some emails, there was always somewhere dreamy to gaze into the distance. Such a breath of fresh air compared to the London lifestyle.

WELLNESS CENTRE

Not often will you find a fully fledged wellness centre in a holiday villa. This villa in Croatia has a sauna, steam room, hot tub and relaxation zone. Our group put this area to good use everyday. The owner, Leo was also kind enough to arrange massages for our group which was the perfect way to wind down in the afternoon.

FOOD + WINE REGION

Even though you feel a million miles away from civilisation, the villa is nestled into a gorgeous wine and truffle producing region. On our doorstep, we had the choice of a variety of restaurants and vineyards within 5-10 minutes of the villa.

Each restaurant we visited, we were spoilt with fresh produce, local specialities, amazing tasting wines and succulent dishes that left you wanting more.

THE INTENSE SUNSETS

Every evening, we were treated to some of the most intense and moody sunsets. The rich purples and pinks encapsulated our view from the villa. It was a special moment to look forward to each night.

AN ACTIVE ESCAPE

The villa is the ideal space and location for an active escape. We used the lower ground garden for group training sessions, the upper sun deck for yoga and the four sets of steps for a HIIT session. The pool was perfect for a cool off and the sauna, steam and hot tub for recovery. You have access to six high quality mountain bikes and endless tracks for nature walks. There was no excuse to be lazy!

HOW TO GET THERE

We flew into Trieste airport and rented a car. The Villa is approximately 1 hour from the airport, crossing the Italian and Croatian border. Soak up the scenery on the journey whilst listening to your favourite playlist. I think the car adventure adds to the fun of the journey.

I would hands down go back and visit this Clickstay villa in a heartbeat. I think it’s the ideal location for a big birthday, hen do, fitness retreat or a just a break from London. We all had the best time – the perfect balance of chill, adventure, wellness and of course some wine.
