Last August bank holiday weekend, I spent 3 beautiful days in the mountains on the border of Germany and Austria. I hiked, yoga’d and swam in fresh water lakes. I watched the sunset over the gorgeous hills and listened to the cowbells echo throughout the valley. The scenery was some of the most picturesque places I’ve ever seen in my whole 32 years on this planet. You will probably remember the jaw dropping photos from the Hiking in Germany blog post, and here are a few to jog your memory.
So this year I am heading out there again and I have 11 spots for you to to come with me! There is going to be lots of hiking, yoga, swimming and getting up close and personal with Mother Nature. Come join in on the fun and be a part of Wood and Luxe’s first ever hiking and yoga adventure. This trip is more “Wood” than “Luxe” so get ready to get outdoors, get amongst nature and soak up the fresh air of the mountains.
Saturday 27th of August – Monday 29th August. No time of work is needed as Monday is the bank holiday in London.
We will be hiking the Berchtesgaden National Park, situated on the border of Germany and Austria which has over 230km of hiking trails. We can immerse ourselves into the splendid alpine panorama, ride a boat up the Kognnissee river and get lost and found in the park.
We will be staying in two different hiking lodges up in the mountains. Think wooden log cabins with bunk beds in the middle of nowhere. The only thing you can hear at night are the cows mooing in the paddock.
We will be flying in and out of Munich airport where our transfer will pick us up to drive to the mountains. You will need to arrive into Munich airport and be ready to depart at 10am. These are the flights to book if coming from London:
London – Munich – Sat 27th – 6.55am – BA0948
Munich – London – Mon 29th – 8.15pm – BA0955
Hiking, climbing, swimming, yoga, eating, drinking, relaxing, meditation.
Not at all. Everything is optional and the yoga will be very much stretch-based to help our muscles warm up and cool down after the long hikes.
I would consider myself to be pretty fit and I found the hike last year challenging (in parts). I made the mistake of doing some pretty heavy weight sessions the day before the hike which made my legs so sore during the hike. I would definitely do some training in the gym leading up to the hike to ensure your legs are prepared for all the walking. I will also provide some suggested training in your booking confirmation.
