I’m going to share something today that may be controversial or not. But I come from a good place. I LOVE seeing you step into your healing journey. Doing the work. Wanting to improve. Becoming more aware of your behaviours.
But binging on healing and not having any down time can really throw us off balance.
We need time to integrate, and regulate our emotions and calm down from the “healing” work. I have a few friends and clients in Bali at the moment and although it can be a healing mecca, you can totally overdose on the good stuff.
We think we are doing a good thing by shifting through our child hood trauma day after day, but the reality is – it can leave you feeling low energy, low mood and quite frankly a bit shit.
So I would really suggest to make sure you have time to rebound.
In Yin yoga after every “active” pose, we take a rebound to recalibrate (normally laying in savasansa). Here is where we get to pause. To breathe. For our body to absorb the good stuff from the pose and also release the heavy energy. The active pose is just as healing as the rest pose. So if / when / if you ever do some deep healing work, pretty please make sure you take the time to rest.
Now my second point is, also make time for PLAY.
We as a society have forgotten how to play. To be free in activities that have no goal or no outcome, but just to feel good or to have fun.
Ask yourself – when was the last time I did something just cos? Or just for fun?
We can get so serious sometimes, working hard, exercising harder, working towards your goals, striving, building, trying so hard.
So it’s the last month of the year. Time to reflect. Time to pause. But also time to have some play. Relax a little. Let go a little. And do something fun!
After a deep healing session, our nervous systems can be all over the place. Which means we can feel out of balance, emotionally sensitive, tired and exhausted. Some of my favourite ways to re-regulate my nervous system is skipping the caffeine, staying away from loud places, avoiding over stimulation and taking the time to rest. Sleep, nourishing food, listening to some relaxing music or even a slow yin class is amazing on the nervous system. I created The Self Care Space exactly for nervous system regulation. An online library of healing self care classes that can help you feel grounded, at peace and safe in your body. There’s a free 7 day trial that you can dip your toes in to help you soothe your nervous system.
I hope that resonated with you – and that you could take what you need from this love note.
Lots of love
xx Phoebe
