On my recent trip to Australia, I treated my family to a weekend in the Hunter Valley. Because wine not? The Hunter Valley is a famous wine producing region about a two hour drive out of Sydney. It’s a popular destination for wine and food enthusiasts, come summer, spring or winter. There are copious amounts of accommodation to choose from: Airbnbs, hotels, guest houses and resorts. As I was travelling with my family, I wanted us to feel relaxed and comfortable, yet stay all together. After a lot of research, we chose the Sixth Magnolia, which is situated in the Vintage Golf resort. Here’s a few reasons why you might want to stay there too:
Located in The Vintage Estate in the popular town of Pokolbin, The Sixth Magnolia was perfectly positioned for our wine tour weekend. The property opens out onto a lush green nature reserve and the 18 hole Greg Norman golf course. The property boasted a beautiful outdoor sitting area, perfect to wind down your afternoons with an organic glass of Malbec. The Vintage is approximately a 2 hour drive from Sydney, or if helicopter is an option, it takes about 45 minutes and you can land on the estate.
The photos literally don’t do this place justice. As soon as you walk in to this luxurious appointed property, you are overwhelmed by the phenomenal space that is on offer. There are 4 generously sized double rooms, two of them with their own ensuites and walk in wardrobes. There’s a full size laundry, double garage, kitchen and living room as well as an outdoor patio with a BBQ and outdoor setting. Plenty of space for a large family, with only 3 internal stairs so it’s safe for kids too. The house is super well equipped with books, board games, Foxtex, free netflix access and wifi. The space also has luxury organic toiletries and cute little care packages of chocolate, candy and bottles of water to treats their guests on arrival.
I’ve always dreamed of cooking in an oversized beautiful kitchen (I love cooking) and my dreams came true when I arrived at the Sixth Magnolia. The glistening, all-white kitchen was absolute heaven.
We made use of the kitchen for breakfast each morning and after the wine tours in the evenings for cheese platters. We all sat down to the large bench seats and shared wine, meals and made memories. Living overseas, these moments back home with the family are so precious.
As The Sixth Magnolia is part of the Vintage Estate, you have access to the The Vintage Club house, tennis courts, the award winning Greg Norman golf course, gym, 25 meter lap pool and sauna and kids area. All the pluses of staying in a hotel, without being disrupted by room service or noisy neighbours. Well worth exploring these facilities which were all a short walk from the house. In addition to all the facilities on offer, there are copious amounts of bicycle and walking trails on the property.
Who doesn’t like watching kangaroos play around in the bush while you’re drinking your morning coffee? Each morning at the Sixth Magnolia, we were greeted by some gorgeous kangaroos which completely delighted me. I think living in London now for over 2 years, I miss seeing nature as a part of everyday life.
If you’re looking for a luxurious family accommodation option for your Hunter Valley visit, you can’t look past The Sixth Magnolia in the Vintage estate. Everything you need and more for a relaxing getaway in wine country. For more information, visit the Stay at the Vintage website.
