(And What Your Body Has Been Trying to Tell You)
You have done the therapy. You have read the books. You have journalled until your hand cramped. You have said “I need to work on my emotions” so many times it has started to feel like a line you read off a script.
And yet here you are. Still snapping at the people you love. Still shutting down when things get hard. Still lying awake at 2am, replaying conversations that happened three weeks ago.
This is not a willpower problem. It is not a motivation problem. And it is definitely not a “you just haven’t tried hard enough” problem.
Here is what nobody told you: you cannot think your way out of a feeling.
Talk therapy is valuable. For many people, it is genuinely life-changing. But for a lot of women, there comes a point where sitting across from someone and talking about your anxiety, your anger, your grief just… doesn’t move the needle.
And that makes sense. Because your emotions don’t live in your thoughts. They live in your body.
When something difficult happens, your nervous system responds first. Before your brain has time to form a sentence, your body is already bracing, tightening, shutting down or firing up. That is not a flaw. That is your biology doing exactly what it was designed to do.
The problem is that most of us were never taught what to do after that happens.
We were taught to suppress. To push through. To “not make a scene.” We were taught to skip straight from feeling to fixing, without ever actually moving through the emotion that got stuck in between.
And emotions that don’t move? They don’t disappear. They back up.

Emotional regulation is not about becoming calm all the time. It is not about being unbothered or unaffected. It is not a spiritual bypass where you float above the hard stuff with a soft smile.
It is a skill. A learnable, practicable skill. And it involves the body as much as the mind.
When we learn to regulate, we learn to:
This is not a four-step fix. It is a practice. But once it becomes yours, it changes everything about how you move through your life.
Your relationships feel different. Your reactions feel different. You stop feeling like your emotions are happening to you and start noticing that you actually have a say in what happens next.
Here is one of the most useful things I have ever learned.
When we see anger, we are usually only seeing the tip. Beneath it, in the water, are the emotions that are harder to name and harder to feel: fear, hurt, grief, shame, loneliness, overwhelm.
Most of us were never taught to go beneath the surface. So we stay at the top, dealing with the anger (or avoiding it), while the real thing stays submerged and untouched.
Somatic therapy helps you go below the waterline. Not to dredge up trauma for the sake of it, but to finally understand what your body has been carrying and to give it a different place to go.
We are living through a collective moment of nervous system overwhelm. If you are exhausted, reactive, emotionally all-over-the-place and simultaneously numb, you are not broken. You are a person running on a system that has never been properly reset.
Somatic therapy has been growing rapidly because more and more people are discovering what I discovered years ago: that true emotional healing does not happen from the neck up. It happens in the body. It happens when you slow down enough to feel what is actually there, rather than manage, suppress or perform your way past it.
The body holds the key. We just need to learn how to listen.
I spent years in the corporate world carrying stress in my body without knowing that was what I was doing. I ate well, practised yoga, ticked all the wellness boxes. And still, something felt blocked. Heavy. Like I was operating at a fraction of my actual capacity.
It was not until I found somatic therapy that the pieces started to connect. And once they did, there was no going back.
I did not become a different person. I became more myself. More able to feel things without being swept away by them. More grounded in what I actually thought and wanted. More present in my relationships and my work.
That is what I built Decoding You to give you.
Decoding You is a 7-session somatic therapy programme designed for women who want to understand their emotions at the level of the body, not just the mind.
Across seven sessions, you will:
This is not a programme about positive thinking or pushing through. It is about going deeper, feeling safer in your own body, and building a relationship with your emotional world that actually works.
If you have been waiting to feel better by thinking harder, I want to gently tell you: there is another way.
Your emotions are not the enemy. Not understanding them is.
